Delve Report 2
At last week’s gaming session, our time at the table ended as the entire party was sucked through a magic portal. As we began this week, we saw where that took us.
Death. And a second chance, sort of.
As each of us felt the essence of our beings floating in a gray mist, we were met by the stereotypical hooded figure with a scythe. Rein, Riswin, and Torren (new player, rogue) were immediately harvested with the words, “You have fulfilled the duties you were put here to do” and away they went. Alton (my character) was given the choice to see what the end of his life was like or to live it out. I chose to not see it prematurely. Mike’s time had not yet come. Guldan, the pestilence inflicting/slaying-waves-of-innocent-people Warlock…well, he was not about to enter the afterlife just yet. I-can’t-remember-his-name the Halfling Ranger joined us about then.
An aspect of Pelor and Corellon materialized in front of us. As it turns out, it was really only Corellon. She was projecting an illusion of Pelor. Leave it to the irreverent Warlock to push that button and nearly anger a deity!
The whole time was really one giant RP session. There were a few arcana, religion, and history checks, but mostly player interaction. In fact, there was no combat at all. Corellon asked several questions but demanded that we have only one spokesperson. The Bard won that role handily. Questions like, “There are two sons. One is strong, one is weak. Which one should the father send to school?” Of course, after we answer, the next question is “Why?”. We really had to think and talk this through in-character amongst ourselves, which was great fun.
Throughout the encounter, Corellon was handing out blessings (on post-it notes!) depending on our answers. Those blessings will be used next week. Who knew the deities use office supplies?
To make a long story shorter, we are being sent back in time to the point when this magical city was about to be destroyed. We have this one opportunity to change the outcome. We will be facing off against a nasty dragon of some sort, after which the campaign ends. The week after that, the delve group is starting a new adventure with level 12 characters and a different DM.
Though no blood was shed, the evening was a very enjoyable one. Hats off to our Dungeon Master Steve for all the effort he put into creating a setting where the rest of us could have a great time.

The post-it I got for angering Corellon was that the DM gets to replace one of my rolls for this upcoming encounter with a 1. It will more than likely be the beloved pestilence.
