Delve Report 2
At last week’s gaming session, our time at the table ended as the entire party was sucked through a magic portal. As we began this week, we saw where that took us.
Death. And a second chance, sort of. Read the rest of this entry »
Drawn in by the art
One of the things I really like about fantasy games and Dungeons & Dragons specifically is the art. Whether it was little sketches in the AD&D Players Handbook when I was a kid or the latest pictures in Dungeon or Dragon magazine, the pictures of this fantasy world have held my attention like few other things could. Twitterfall + Saturday = Real time #dnd
Saturday’s are big for many Dungeons & Dragons players. A lot of people get their weekly game in on a Saturday. From the morning to wee hours of Sunday, many a die is rolled.
More people are sharing their game via the Internet with tools like Twitter. They add the hashtag #dnd to make it easier to find D&D related tweets. While Twitter Search is awesome, there is another tool that I use and it provides nearly real time updates on anything you are looking for. Enter Twitterfall.
Twitterfall is pretty straightforward, but here is a quickstart to get the #dnd tweets scrolling down the screen as they happen. First, login to Twitter on the lower left of the screen. Then click in the Searches box and enter #dnd. That will start the page to updating with only those tweets that have #dnd in the content. If you are getting a lot of extra stuff, like the latest trending topics, make sure you uncheck them on the upper left of the page.
And there you go! I see from pictures and and videos that a lot of people have their laptop at the gaming table these days. If you have Internet access while you play, you can follow along with other adventurers and post your own updates for the #dnd timeline. Or maybe you can’t make it to your gaming session for some reason. Follow along with Twitterfall and see what is happening at other gaming tables while you take the night off.

Since this blog and podcast are an extension of my personal enjoyment of gaming, I thought it appropriate to recap the weekly game I am a part of at my local hobby shop, Fanfare in Kalamazoo, MI. Read the rest of this entry »
HeroForge Character Management System for 4E
In my usual perusing of highly customized and super special RSS feeds that I have created for finding the latest D&D news, I came across this nifty little software that looks to have some great potential: HeroForge Character Management System for 4E.
I intend to provide a more detailed review in the future, but for now you should head over and grab the trial to see it for yourself.
It is for Windows only (sorry Mac users…including me) and shows a lot of promise. I am most stoked that there are real people behind the software, they’ve been working hard on it, and hey, I am always in favor of the indie.
Minor rant: is it really that hard to make a web based character management system? I contend no but no one has done it yet. I would gladly pay monthly for such a cross-platform thing.
